Circuit Analysis for Dummies to be Published in April 2013 or May 2013

Posted on February 5, 2013 at 9:00pm 0 Comments

For those who are interested in a Circuit Analysis book to go along with some of the videos, my first and new book will be published sometime during April or May 2013.  The book is entitled, Circuit Analysis for Dummies (yep...the same yellow brand as the other dummies series books.  I was asked to write the book back in May-Jun timeframe of…

Circuit Analysis II: Introduction to Waveforms (Sinusoidal, Exponential) and the Unit Step Function

Posted on March 29, 2010 at 9:43am 0 Comments

So far we've only talked about dc signals in circuit analysis. These constant signals do not change in time. However, signals must change with time to carry information. The series of videos will cover three basic, time-varying signals used in linear circuits as well as being used to create more complex signal.

An electrical signal such as a current i(t) and voltage v(t) is a…

Circuit Analysis Modeling: ORCAD - SPICE Simulation and Tutorial (Voltage Divider)

Posted on March 28, 2010 at 11:30am 0 Comments

As a schematic editor, OrCAD allows you to draw circuit schematics. The program has a nice collection of circuit parts or components to allow you to perform their assignments and laboratory exercises.

PSPICE is an electrical simulator that allows you to model the operation of circuits whose schematic was prepared using ORCAD. Students can now check for correct circuit operation before building the circuit in the lab.

The student version of ORCAD runs PSPICE without leaving… Continue

Basic Introduction to Active Filters and its Applications

Posted on March 1, 2010 at 6:13pm 0 Comments

Here is a short introduction to active filters and its applications. Active filters have comparable frequency selective performance when compared to passive filters. Active filters require power since operational amplifiers are involved to provide gain but do not require inductors since they can be large and lossy, especially for low frequency applications.

Briefly, let's begin the talk about the electric filter invented during World War I. These filters and… Continue

Hi Dr. J,

at the moment I'm interested in deconvolution of a square signal (how to model and matlab); more generally I am interested in mech. eng. stuff (plastics manufacturing).

Hi Dr J,
I always watch your online videos, Right now I am intersted in modeling using Matlab convolution, sequences-impulse train,Fourier & Z-transform(zeros and poles). My field of study is Information and Signal Processing.
Thanks Dr J

Thanks Dr .J,

I always watch your online videos, Right now I am intersted in modeling using Matlab in order to make the validation of my mostly discrete systems .

Hi John,

I like your youtube Electronics class. I just watched "Circuit Analysis-transistor Tutorial-Common Emitter Circuit-Part 4", and found (maybe I'm wrong" a error. i(sub c ) = Beta * i(sub b) must be < i (sub sc) = 5mA, because i (sub sc) is the short circuit current. Thanks for your attention. Your class is well-prepared and your a pretty good vocal voice, Many thanks!
