Hi Ted,

Thanks for the feedback. To be in saturation,ic=beta*ib must be greater than the short circuit collector current ((isc=Vcc-Vce)/Rc).. In other words, the collector current is limited by isc even ic exceeds isc. Hope this helps! Dr J.
